(HUNTSVILLE, AL.) – We are thrilled to welcome James B. Lackey to our team as Senior Vice President for the Software Solutions Division at Davidson. With more than 37 years of experience in weapon systems development and capability, James brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our organization.
A Legacy of Leadership and Innovation
Lackey's career is marked by significant achievements and leadership roles across various sectors, especially in aerospace defense. Prior to joining Davidson, James served as the Senior Vice President for Parsons Corporation, where he led multiple operational lines, including a diverse $500 million annual P&L software and hardware mission solutions organization.
During his tenure at Parsons, James guided the development of long-term growth strategies and securing of new contracts for Department of Defense prototype and technology integration efforts. His accomplishments included securing contracts for multi-domain, C5ISR, threat intelligence, and kill chain enhancements, as well as directing energy and electronic warfare platform development, integration, and productions.
Before his time at Parsons, James held key positions such as the Executive Director for the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Research, Development, and Engineering Center (AMRDEC), where he oversaw a government workforce of 3,000 personnel and managed a $2.5 billion annual science and technology and engineering budget.
A Visionary Leader with Deep Expertise
Lackey's career highlights his commitment to excellence, strategic planning, and fostering innovation. His experience spans executive leadership, P&L management, product development, supplier management, and strategic planning. He has led teams to establish new business captures and has been instrumental in the development and execution of major defense programs.
Throughout his career, Lackey has been recognized for his contributions with awards such as the Army Superior Civilian Service Award and the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School and holds a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Florida Tech and a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Virginia Tech.
Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Huntsville Chamber of Commerce, playing an active role in shaping the local business landscape and fostering economic growth. James is also a dedicated member of the NDIA Tennessee Valley Chapter, where he contributes his expertise to advance industry collaboration and innovation. His commitment to community involvement reflects his passion for making a positive impact beyond the workplace.
