(HUNTSVILLE, AL)– Davidson Technologies, Inc. is thrilled to announce the promotion of James Lackey to Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective January 1, 2025. This pivotal leadership change, approved by the company’s Board of Directors, reflects Davidson's commitment to aligning operational excellence with its long-term growth strategy.

As COO, Lackey will oversee all Profit & Loss (P&L) centers, including Engineering Services, Software Solutions, and Hardware Solutions, as well as Davidson’s technical initiatives such as the Digital Engineering Center of Excellence, artificial intelligence applications, quantum computing center development, and software factory secure operations. He will work closely with leadership to drive the execution of current contracts, organic growth, new business strategic growth, and innovation across all sectors.

“James has proven himself as an exceptional leader since joining Davidson,” said Dale Moore, President and CEO. “His ability to champion Davidson’s core values while advancing strategic initiatives has been instrumental in our success. As COO, James will play a vital role in propelling Davidson forward and delivering unmatched value to our customers and employees.”

Lackey joined Davidson in April 2024 as Senior Vice President of Software Solutions, bringing a wealth of experience from a distinguished career in the defense and technology sectors. Prior to joining Davidson, he served in senior executive roles at Parsons Corporation, Army Futures Command, and the Office of the Secretary of Defense where he led efforts in major defense acquisition and technology application development across mission-critical national defense initiatives.

In May 2024, Lackey’s expertise and leadership were quickly recognized, leading to his appointment to Davidson’s Executive Leadership Team. In this role, he oversaw Davidson’s software portfolio and spearheaded efforts to modernize command-and-control systems, enhance AI-driven solutions, and digital engineering battlespace applications. His innovative approach and focus on whole-of-company enterprise collaboration across business lines helped position Davidson as a growing leader in cutting-edge technologies.

Reflecting on his new role, Lackey shared, “I am honored to step into this position and grateful for the trust placed in me by Dale and the Board. My focus will remain on supporting our customers, delivering on our commitments, and fostering growth and innovation across the organization. Davidson’s mission to serve the warfighter is at the heart of everything we do, and I’m excited to contribute to the next chapter of our success.”

This leadership transition comes at a time of significant momentum for Davidson. The company has set ambitious goals for 2025, including continued diversification of its customer base, and advancing groundbreaking research in quantum technologies, large language models, and space situational awareness.

As Davidson looks to fill Lackey’s previous role as Senior Vice President of Software Solutions through an internal competition in early 2025, Moore emphasized the importance of creating growth opportunities within the company. “This is a testament to the incredible talent we have at Davidson. We’re dedicated to fostering a culture of excellence and empowering our employees to advance their careers.”

Lackey’s promotion marks a new chapter in Davidson’s journey, one that underscores its dedication to mission-focused innovation, operational growth, and delivering unparalleled value to its customers and stakeholders.
