(HUNTVILLE, AL)– During a company-wide meeting held in early May, Davidson CEO & Chairman, MG John W. Holly (USA, Ret.), and President, Dale Moore, announced two strategic additions to Davidson's Executive Leadership Team.
With great enthusiasm, Holly welcomed Senior Vice President of Engineering Services, Rick Powers, and Senior Vice President of Software Solutions, James Lackey, to Davidson's esteemed executive ranks.
Rick Powers: Senior Vice President, Engineering Services
Rick Powers assumes the role of Senior Vice President, Engineering Services, where he will spearhead several programs supporting a diverse range of customers including the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, and the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center.
His responsibilities extend to collaborating with the executive leadership team to foster the development and expansion of engineering efforts across the enterprise.
Powers' career trajectory is marked by a wealth of experience and accomplishments. Beginning as a software engineer in Houston, Texas, he contributed to the development of Energy Management Systems and SCADA systems for major electrical utility companies. He later transitioned to telecommunications giant MCI, where he led software and database teams on various projects, managing corporate IT/Telecommunications endeavors exceeding $15 million.
Joining SPARTA Inc. in 2002, Powers led Modeling and Simulation software teams, notably overseeing the Missile Defense Space Warning Tool (MDST) Software organization on the JRDC. His journey continued as he transitioned to Davidson Technologies Inc. in 2011, assuming leadership of the JRDC Program and playing a pivotal role in several high-profile initiatives.
Powers holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Information Science from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX.
James Lackey: Senior Vice President, Software Solutions
James Lackey brings a wealth of expertise and leadership to his role as Senior Vice President, Software Solutions. Prior to joining Davidson, Lackey served as the Senior Vice President for Parsons Corporation, where he led a diverse $500 million annual P&L software and hardware mission solutions organization.
His tenure at Parsons was marked by strategic planning and significant achievements in securing contracts for Department of Defense prototype and technology integration efforts. Notable accomplishments include directing energy and electronic warfare platform development, integration, and production.
Before his time at Parsons, Lackey held key positions such as the Executive Director for the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Research, Development, and Engineering Center (AMRDEC), overseeing a government workforce of 3,000 personnel and managing a $2.5 billion annual science and technology and engineering budget.
Lackey's career exemplifies a steadfast commitment to excellence, strategic planning, and innovation. His extensive experience spans executive leadership, P&L management, product development, and strategic planning. Throughout his career, Lackey has been honored with awards such as the Army Superior Civilian Service Award and the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Lackey is actively involved in community engagement, serving on the Board of Directors for the Huntsville Chamber of Commerce and contributing his expertise to advance industry collaboration and innovation through the NDIA Tennessee Valley Chapter.
